    Nice score.
Just a side note, but all of our M-14s that we had on both of my ships were Winchester manufactured.
The Garand is good, but I still am very biased for the M-14.
A pity that there will never be a chance of a genuine M-14 ever being sold through CMP, as the Garand can be. :(

The M14 receiver was made so it could be made into select fire/full auto by a armorer, they all came out of manufacturing as semi-auto only. So for that reason we will never see them unless we spend the $$$$$ for it and the stamp. However you can get all the USGI parts for it with another "civilian" receiver. I scored one with all to most HRA parts from 61' on a early SN Federal Ordnance M14A and put the Hawks semi-auto button on it just like out of factory…close as most of us are going to get. Got it off gun broker for 1100.00 just before everything hit the fan and prices went sky high. Very accurate, and love throwing tracers out 740 yards to the steel gong although with price of ammo haven't been shooting as much these last years.

I sold a Winchester M1 Garand but still have my 42' SA and 55' HRA, and lots of spam cans. I go with the Garand with open sights, love how the enblocs are ready load and the "ping"! Plus got AP rounds that are something else, broke through and cracked 3/8" bullet proof steel target, the guy who made it told me to try it with a round…..he couldn't believe it! Laughed like a kid he was so amazed, had it go through 1" steel also. M14A with scope is tough to beat though, especially with my eyes at long range.
