    Greetings fellow gun nuts,

I have reviewed a bunch of gun porn on you tube and feel pretty comfortable changing my own barrel for my DPMS LR 308
I have decided to go with a Krieger 26 barrel and have it threaded as I has a silencer I use.
I want the 26 inch barrel , what twist rate would you all recommend ?
I thought about getting a complete new upper, but decided against it.
They only other thing I would need at this point would be some good sturdy hand railing.
Any recommendations ? I use 147- 175 grain 308 and the gun is only used at the gun range.
I like going to Young Long Shot in Wolcotville as I am a member of that range facility
Thank you and Happy and Safe New Year

Krieger is a nice barrel, but is there something wrong with your DPMS barrel?

Nothing wrong with the barrel, just want a nicer barrel
and a longer barrel, the one I have is 16 inches , the one I want will be 26 inches
I want to get a longer barrel . What are your thoughts on this Mgderf as I am a novice
but I am a decent shot. I figure with a longer barrel, I will be able to shoot the 308 a little bit further
and with the Krieger a tighter shot group with my LR 308
but what are your thoughts about it ?

Most of the time the person behind the rifle has a lot more to do with group size than the barrel...

^This is what I think. You probably can stretch that gun out a bit further with a longer barrel, and you might just tighten the groups up as well.
That's a good bit of coin to drop for just plinlin' around.

Your money though. If that's what you want to do, go for it.

The 1:10 twist would be the way to go for the bullet weights you listed, but as mentioned honestly you'd be surprised at how well the factory barrel will do even at only 16". My advice would be to swap out the trigger first if you haven't already done it. The factory DPMS LR308 are awful, this would be a big help in showing you what the factory barrel would do. When I had mine it had no problem shooting MOA @ 100yrds with factory match ammo consistently after I made a trigger swap. Also finding a load that the rifle likes would be a big part of what your trying to accomplish, but if you looking for that Krieger cause you just want it. Nothing wrong with that either.
