AR-15 Buffer

I ordered a CAR stock from J and T and it didn't come with the metal buffer (bravocompanyusa's does). Is this part optional?

This is my first build, so don't flame me too hard.

edit: I found it! No problems.

No it is not optional. I'm guessing it didn't come with the buffer spring either.

w00t! I found it. It was down in the other end of the stock.
