I've decided to buy my first AR-15: An entry level Del-Ton DT Sport. Mostly because I bumped into an amazing deal (under $400) and it gets good reviews for what it is.

However, I do think I will need an optic. I've used Romeo optics before, and like them. But for my budget \ first AR-15, I'm looking for something more affordable ($100ish or less). Also, with the fixed front sight, what height riser do I need? I've never installed optics on a rifle before!

Typically proper optics selection revolves around the purpose of the gun, but with your budget the only quality answer is the TR-25, so for you, how you intend to use the rifle doesnt matter because the price range left you with one option.

The current plan is to get a: Bushnell TRS-25 Tactical Red Dot 1x25mm

With a: Leapers 1 inch High 3-Slot High Compact Riser

But I am not sure if the 1 inch riser will co-witness right with the front sight on the Del-Ton. Also, not sure about the Bushnell quality.

Thanks for the answer. Do you know what riser I need for absolute co-witness with the Del-Ton DT Sport?

well here's what I'd do, I'd take my 100.00 and go to the nearest casino or horse/dog racing track, pick a horse/dog, and bet to win!, and when you win, (or you could borrow a hundy from a buddy) calla alan^ (the guy above my post) and tell him you want a vortex strike fire, back when I bought mine (about a hundred years ago, ok more like 8) they were 129.99 (minimum advertised price), I think now they are about 190.00 and well worth it

it comes with a riser that gives me a perfect cowitness to my front and rear pop up sights!
