A couple of weeks ago I was at the range and ran into some serious feeding issues with my G2 DPMS where the rounds were getting jammed into the ramp with the bolt shoving it from the side about half way up the brass and serious dents being put into the shoulder of the round. I found other mentions of this online that included various insights from first level support at DPMS including, don't use ZQI ammo, don't use 147g ammo, don't look at it sideways . . .

(including the links in case anyone finds this via a search)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4FTKP-kBuU (I had a number of rounds that ended up exactly like the one in the video).

Someone suggested using Lancer magazines, so I picked up a pair (cause, shipping) and got out to the range today. I loaded up 20 rounds of ZQI 7.62x51 and fired off 12 rounds without a single issue, loaded 6 rounds of Perfecta .308 on top and fired the 14 remaining rounds without issue. This is a very different experience from the last time I was out there that ended up with a fair amount of cursing and a number of badly dented rounds. Also, no need to modify the Lancer magazines to get the hold open to work.

I reviewed a G2 Hunter that a buddy loaned to me for review and experienced some of the same issues. Along with not much in the way of accuracy, after shooting it some I had him send it back to DPMS. With all the FTF and the less than stellar accuracy it was just a complete bomb. So after sending it back, he brought it back out for a 2nd review and the results were much improved even though DPMS did not say what they did to the rifle :dunno:. As of now though its a great shooter and hasn't had a minutes trouble out of it since he switched to the LR308 P-mags, which also lock the bolt back with no issues...

I've been happy with its accuracy as it made a few golf balls disappear at 100 yds (as in, I found one recognizable chunk of one, the rest, not so much and I didn't see them fly off into the sunset), but the magazines/FTF were killing me. I've also got way too much ZQI stockpiled from when I was buying it in preparation for buying a recon (I ended up with a different model) that the response I read about not using 147g was just a bit off-putting. Swapping to the Lancer mag, while not a cheap answer, is allowing me to keep using the cheaper ammo at the range. I will admit to liking the look of them, too, so there's that as a bonus. :D
