No you don't not a commonly seen rifle being made by Mauser instead of by the Swedes. If its all matching then you have quite a treasure too your collection. As for shooting, well that 6.5x55 round combined with the wonderful cock on closing Mauser action is a great platform. Personally I think this round is underrated its very accurate, has good flat trajectory, and pleasant in the recoil department.

Very nice! I had a Mauser Oberndorff M96 (1900) but sold it. :( Still have my Carl Gustaf (1903) and it's probably one of the most accurate rifles I own, at 114 years old! The actions on the Swedes are smooth as butter too. I also have a Husqvarna M38 short rifle which is just as nice as my M96, but not quite as easy to shoot accurately (probably the shooter's fault though :):).

That is a nice rifle is the red lettering original??? or was red used vs white??? I like it..

Saw DDs Swed, He drove up to the range with his rolling arsenal one day.. Everyone was gathered around, and I heard he had a good looking Swed in the van and he was stripping her... Well Heck, I am not a voyeur, But, my interests were peaked. After pushing through the crowd. I saw that it was a rifle, was a little disappointed, but it was a hell of a rifle.. I was lucky enough to win the shooters raffle he had with that thing and shoot some rounds.. Gosh it was perfect. Nice sights, they went all out with those rifles..

I bought a M96 last summer at the 1500 for $300. It was made in 1901 and the bore on it is in immaculate condition. At 100 yards it will shoot 2 inch groups with old surplus ammo. It is one of my favorite Mausers to shoot (tied with my Brazilian Mauser). I really want to add a M38 carbine to the collection and a few hundred rounds of surplus ammo.

How to get a good laugh from that I think I sold you that rifle! If that was at the May show last year I did sell a Swedish Mauser made in 1901. If that is the same rifle I hope it was a darn good shooter for you.

nice find, mine was made in 1903, 2nd best shooting rifle after my rem 700, shoots mil surplus and my reloads great. I installed a higher front sight to zero it at 100 yds and when I do my part can keep 10 rds in 2 inches or less.
