A while back I sent Regan Nooneman a gently used Marlin 336 in 30/30 to converted to 445 Super Mag. I was using a 44 mag for deer. After a year and half I finally got it back butthe brass the first round was sheared Yep headspace was off so it was repaired. The barrel is not a rebore but a Douglas blank cut to 17". I was not happy after getting it back shot great was ugly so I contacted Adam Devine at Ranger Point (great people) who stripped it, replaced stock and forarm, added large lever, sction job and his see thru mount (used as rear sight). I have shot 7 rounds and it is great but during this time Indiana relaxed the rifle laws to the extent of using other calibers. Last year used 450 Bushmaster to shoot two deer. Great safe queen.

I don't think it is a waist of money. Being a fan of the lever action and marlin.

So it is a standard pickup truck with a corvette engine custom paint job lift kit and rims.

445 supermag. Hmmmm. 17 inch barrel. Should be able to hit at least 1800 fps or close with a 240 grain bullet. Hmmmm

my my only real question is how are the cartridges ejection and feeding. Have a 336 44 mag and I can see why marlin brought out the 1894. It is rough in the action. Does not eject well unless done forcefully. It is pretty much a well used safe queen. They only made them a few years. My 1894's all work much better in 44 mag then the 336.

45/70 not legal for deer. This is the smoothest lever gun I have ever held but it is a custom. I shoot a 225 FTX at 2100 fps using 4447 and 296 powders. Brass is from Starline and plenty if .430 bullets

I've got a D-tech 358 WSSM AR. Lot's of "wasted" money. Shoots like a dream. Great deer gun. Love it. Will continue to use it for the purpose it was built. On that note, I'll be happy to get my 270 and 243 a little deer work this year. Remember, Indiana only relaxed the private land. Pretty sweet looking lever.

I'm pretty sure the 45/70 is a legal round this year, but I've been wrong before

Comparing these two sites' info, I think you are correct.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45-70

EDIT: You are NOT correct. 45-70 is exempted specifically. (just saw it as I was closing browser tabs)

"There are other cartridges that meet the law’s specifications, and there are others that do not. A partial list of cartridges that are not allowed under HEA 1231 includes the .270 Winchester, .38-55 Winchester, .444 Marlin, and .45-70 Government. "

I bought a .458SOCOM upper years ago to have an Indiana legal deer rifle. While the new regs may make my rifle less desirable on the resale market, it still makes me giggle like a little girl when I shoot it. And it still makes deers very dead. So I'll never consider it wasted money.

Or at least never admit it to my wife.;)

That is old information from 2016, the law was changed again this year.
