I just ordered Ruger American Compact 22LR rifle for grandson's birthday later this month. I wonder if he will mind if I break it in for him prior to his birthday. Woohoo

That is a good thing about grandsons. I am just at the BB gun stage right now. But I already have started getting some bolt action .22s for them ready to go.

Absolutely essential you at least do a comprehensive safety/function test before presenting a firearm to ANY new shooter.
I gave my niece a Bersa Thunder .380 for her birthday a few months ago.
I ran 150 rounds of ball through it to test function before I let her take it home.
