    12 or 20?

    Light 12 or Light 20?

Does it have the wood FN magazine plug?

    Screw heads clean?

Forearm isn't battered to hell from the barrel or cracked?

Is the other forearm a vent rib?

Either way, very nice condition, for $800 you did fine. A lot of the "classic" shotguns are in a slump right now, look at model 12s, but overall especially with 2 barrels $800 was fair

That is a very fair price for a A5 with 2 barrels if it is in decent condition, by decent I mean good to excellent condition. The A5's I have seen at the local gun shows have been near that price for good condition guns without the extra barrel in the 2 3/4" version. The 3" magnum with rubber butt-plate carries a $200 ~ $400 premium. Note: These prices were for the 12 ga version, I did not price any other gage.

I was looking at them for about a year but ran into an A500R a few months ago in excellent condition for $400. The A500R has many reviews many people hate them but just about as many love them. They were a later model than the A5 and do not have there collector value. (I really like my A500R)

I have been noticing that at shows as well. It might be my fault. I bought a pair of Brownings a few years ago and shortly after, the values started dropping. Sorry guys :-)

The “classic” shotguns are down in price right now for a few reasons. Less people on average hunt than before. People who inherit “classic” shotgun seem to want to trade them off for “assault rifles” less people shoot clays or skeet casually. Normally these guns would have stayed in the safe for the original owners.

800 for a classic A5 with two barrels is a good deal. Barrels worth 200 each or so. 900-1000 not out of normal asking price on a round knob A5. They have a sight picture which you either live or hate and such a original sound shooting that I can tell if an A5 was shot 1/2 mike away on a cold morning.

If if you think classic auto shotguns took a hit ask the guy with the expensive grade engraved over and unders. $7500 Midas grade browning may have fallen to 5k. But with all things I see a nice rebound coming so get them while you can get them.

Your A-5 is a 1954-1956 manufacture. I have a 1958 A-5 12ga. 3" Magnum. Its a Great Shotgun that I've owned for almost 50 years. I don't Hunt anymore but use it for Clay Targets occasionally. Extra barrels are selling in the $200+ range.

For the barrel that you don't know the choke, check the left side where the mfg info is if it doesn't say outright then there should be some asterisks "*", one means full, 2 modified etc.

    * designates full choke (F).
*- designates improved modified choke (IM).
    ** designates modified choke (M).
**- designates improved cylinder choke (IC).
    **$ designates skeet (SK).
    *** designates cylinder bore (CYL).

Wife has several of these and my gramps has had one stuffed in the closet for many moons. Think my uncle just broke it out for a cleaning and a round of trap.
