I'm not very knowledgeable about these rifles but I've always liked them. I bought one that was a train wreck several years ago, refinished it, shot it a little and sold it off. I've confirmed with Springfield that it left the factory in Aug 1990 as a NM and it appears to have a commercial barrel (unfortunately). Other than that I don't know much but I like it.

Consider your face hated! I really miss my M1A, college partying and poor money management...I'm in the market for a SOCOM16 now, only because of Daylights End!

What's the part where the stripper clip guide goes? Part of a scope base?

Congrats on an awesome rifle. They are a pleasure to shoot! Plus your first one is a 5 line Springfield which in some circles is more desirable.

Just got off of the phone with Springfield and found out that the rifle was built by Glen Nelson, icing on the cake!!

Here's a couple pics with her all cleaned up

    .
Great rifle Phylo, I've had mine since 1980 and it would be one of the last guns I would part with.

    Phylo,

A NM rifle is something to hold in high regards, do you compete in any of the CMP matches? I shot a few CMP matches last year with a NM M14 wow what a rifle......

I will gladly shoot at camp Perry any time your rifle feels the need to go .....you do know NM rifles get lonely....
