    Learned scholars:

It is my understanding that there are 2 versions of the sub 2k.
    Glock. And everything else.
One defines whether his non Glock rifle is a sig, smith, or beretta by the mag release it uses, and these mag releases are interchangeable.

    Is this still true?

Thank you in advance, oh wise ones.

I think you are correct. I think the non-glock models are known as multi-mag. I think the magazine conversions are around $15.

I believe that is correct, at least for the gen 1.

As far as gen 2 goes, which I don’t have, I have tried to insert an M&P 9 mag in to a S&W 59 series mag well and it wouldn’t fit.
