Anyone take the front sight off one of these? It has a single screw and then appears to be glued on or something. Do I need to pound on it a bit or grab with pliers and pull?

That screw is probably held in with a thread locker of some kind as well.

If steady pressure won't release it, try gently heating it.

I decided to go with the "hit it with a mallet" trick, which worked. Looked to be some sort of adhesive under it. Of course we lost the screw for the new sight since it was on the counter open for a day and I have kids :(

Sooo disappointed. The new sight is loose, truglo told me to grind down the screw so it fits well. That is not a replacement part if I have to machine the original for it to work :xmad:

    .
I understand your frustration Doc, but you are directing it to the wrong party.

More often, it is the wide tolerances of big-box-guns that results in the secondary market manufacturer's parts requiring fitting.

Think of it this way: if they included a screw that wasn't long ENOUGH...you'd still be pissed off, and there'd be NOTHING your could do. At least this way, it can BE fit.
