Back in the fall I came across a 1100 magnum for $120. They said they couldn’t get it to run. Come to find out the Magnums won’t cycle a light 2 3/4” load do to the heavier action sleeve and single gas port

Beautiful collection of older Remington’s from an era when Remington made quality firearms. Keep them all safe and sound as with the impending Remington bankruptcy who knows what will happen to Remington. They surely will not “make them like they used to” going forward if at all. Peace.

Wow! That's a fine collection of Remingtons!

I have 4 Remington shotguns. One is a Wingmaster Magnum in 12-gauge that I bought used in 1988 or 1989. I still have the vent rib barrel that it came with with interchangeable choke tubes, but I installed a heavy Hastings barrel on it and a Leupold scope. I've killed a lot of deer with it but plan to switch to hunt with a 450 Bushmaster for public land deer next season. I also have three 11-87s. One is a police model with an after market stock that has a surefire weapon light mounted in it, the other is my work horse field shotgun with a wooden stock, and the third is a special purpose model, also with a Hastings rifled barrel with iron sights.

Very nice collection! I have a 1979 1100 Trap-T model that my dad gave me. I'd love to add a similar 870 Trap model and start my own collection.

Coworker was a lefty, his 1187 went down so Don Lengel cut him a deal on a beater 1100 trap (righty). When Phil's 1187 came back he passed along the beater to me at same deal. Good dude ol' Phil was. Gun looked bad but shot like a million bucks.

I passed the deal along when I decided it was just a little too beat up for me.
See......my dad has a clean 1100 trap and he lets me run it now and then ;)
Gotta get it a Remchoke bbl so I can run steel on doves at Winamac.

Back in the lead days it put on a show once or twice.

I get that one can't own every variation..........like different cam patterns or finishes.
But............the Special Field is little different enough IMHO to warrant a spot.
    Mag tube shortened on them.

My idea of an 1100 12 ga collection would be:

    RKW finish standard
    Magnum RKW
    Special Purpose
    Special Field
    Sportsman Auto
    Matte synth low end type
    Trap or skeet target model

I don't use my stuff enough the way it is, and am out of the collector mindset these days.
Do kinda want an "Atlantic Flyway" magnum though.
Had a beater that somebody swapped bbl and wood on........so I made it a synth HD rig.

    Odd enough to be cool.

Commemoratives out there, but not sure of one needs to hold a collection slot.

Had minty 1100 mags and standards.........and used them afield.
Still looked minty after much use.
But I paid attention to not ding em up.

Kinda like my SP and standard 1100's in synth.
    Don't give a flip.

Must admit I do kinda miss the nice pretty ones.

Glad other folks are collecting them and posting pics :)

Must admit, the Special Field 1100 and 870 in 12 ga never appealed to me.
They are MUCH nicer IMHO in 20 ga.
No longer made...........the price is silly.

In 12 the 870 version should be reasonable, since Special Field bbls on 870's don't swap to other standard models (mag tube shortened on the Special Fields).
Mag cap secures bbl on 870's.

On 1100s the forearm bears against bbl ring, and mag cap bears against forearm.
So 1100 bbls will swap within gauge.
Lots of folks put Special Field bbls on their reg models.

Think the Walmart commemorative was a Special Field buttstock, and bbl..........w reg length mag tube though.
Maybe wrong, been a while since I saw one. But it didn't look right to my eye.

Saturday I picked up a corncob 1956 870 wingmaster 20ga 28" mod for 300. With the Remington name in the condition it is in today, I just could not pass on it. I am always a sucker for old vintage.

No real Remy collection here. I do own a very pretty 11-87 Premier in 20ga w/ screw in chokes. Just sold a pristine condition Remy Wing Master 12ga SUPER Magnum(could take 3.5" shells). Research indicated Remington only made 2000 of them with the high grade wood and engraved receiver like the one I sold.
