By the time of the Revolutionary War, rifles were commonly used by frontiersmen. Yet, the "standard issue" of the military was the smooth bore musket. So, one could argue, that when the 2nd Amendment was written, much of the populace had personal weapons that were actually BETTER than the average soldier.

The gun control crowd talks out of both sides of its mouth.

They just don't get it. They are overcome with a great delusion. And when they are ruled by tyranny, and millions die, they will deny that anyone ever told them so.

If anyone believes the 2nd amendment is only for muskets then they believe are forefathers were so stupid and never thought that firearms would ever improve over time. You could say the Lever action and the Spencer made rifles that came out less then 100 years later were your first assault rifle.

If the news media believes that the second amendment applies to firearms of that time frame, they need to shut down their TV and radio and internet broadcasts, and start writing stories out and selling them on street corners. Also they cannot deliver them to street corners by motor vehicles but by horseback or horse driven vehicle only.

The idea of time frame constitution is so short sighted,

Looks nice. Anybody ever home brew one of these for a muzzleloader? Couldn’t the alphabet soup folks argue it could be used for any smaller caliber too?
