The only .308 I own is a Remington 700 PSS. I bought a case of 7.62 NATO for the Proteq shoot last Saturday, and brought most of it home. I now have ammo that doesn't really fit any gun I have. Only one solution. I need a new gun, obviously.

So, INGO, what 7.62 NATO gun do I need???

I only have one 7.62. It is a sub-MOA Smith & Wesson M&P10. Yep. SW and sub-moa in the same sentence...

If I was buying new right now (with your checkbook), I might lean toward a POF for no other reason than I know a guy that has a couple and they are top notch.

So, you're saying you "know a guy," and can get me a deal. Hell yeah, INGO rocks! Everybody needs to "know a guy"

Actually, any gun chambered in .308 will fire 7.62 just fine. I recently bought an AR-10 chambered in .308 and confirmed it will fire either. Hope this helps!

Ok we are talking battle rifles or precision?

Battle rifle, hands down the scar17 heavy. I replaced my FN lower with a a aluminum aftermarket that takes pmags
With the 7.62 NATO, I'm leaning towards battle rifle. The 700 will shoot farther than I can see.

Welcome to INGO, and I appreciate the info, but I'm looking to buy a gun, not shoot cheap ball ammo through a precision rifle.
Never mention this again, Denny! :lmfao:

If I knew "that" guy, my post would have read, "I have a POF...." :)

I just know a guy that has a couple...

I was so excited there for a minute. I thought I knew a guy, that knows a guy. That's almost as good as knowing a guy.

Your question doesn't make any sense. The rifle you have will shoot your ammo just fine. 7.62 NATO is a military round. It will fire just fine out of any .308 rifle.
