My Dad has a bud who is interested in buying his Model 70. It's a Sporter with a walnut stock and a 3X9 Weaver scope. The round count is less than 75. I probably put 20 through it, this is a devastating rifle. Maybe 3 boxes of 150/180 grain Remington Core-Lokt will go with it. I'd say it's in excellent condition.

OK INGOers, I have a price in mind, what's ya'lls?

Cool old rifle of known history/accuracy.
Might mean the bud is willing to pay top dollar.

On the open market...........its an old rifle, wood stocked, in a boomer.
    With an old scope.

    Rifle 500
    Ammo 75
    Scope 0

Edit: scope of minimal value if non adjustable objective.

I've seen folks pay premium, to buy a gun from a friend.
Sometimes the seller sees the bud as a sucker.
Other times the bud just really wants the rifle and is willing to pay whatever it takes.

I've seen very good offers made, on stuff in buddy circles............that were rejected for years.
And then the guy up and sells it to a stranger, for HALF of what was offered by a bud.

People do silly stuff, esp as they get older.

Have heard of friendships lost over gun deals.

Hopefully both parties can land on a number where they feel good.

Rifle up to $600 condition limited
    Ammo $60?
Scope up to $100. Some of the old Weavers have a value simply for the genre for restorations. I've got an acquaintance that pays well for certain older Ks. IF it's not an older K model it's probably a $25 scope.
These are just general guesses without seeing the particular rifle and accessories.

    3-9X would be a V series.
    Scope might be fine.
if it needs repair down the road, there are places (used to be a few).
Only one I can find now to work on V series, quick web check.........is Ironsight Inc.
    Iron Sight Inc.

I won't risk a deer hunt on an old Weaver.
My bought new V9 fogged, as did my dads........way back.
They were AO models though (woodchuck hunting).

Checking auction site..........reg V9 not worth much.
The later AO models some folks think are worth 200.
    What they really sell for?

Last yr I was looking for a later AO V9 (for an old .22rf).........and found one rebuilt (seller the rebuilder).........and it was clean at $150.
But it was a wide view.........and I hate those darn things.
It stayed listed for a while.

Thanks for the feedback! I haven't looked through the scope in 8 years, it was fine then. May have to take a look next time I'm over there.
