    It isn't black.

    No plastic.

I got a hold of a Winchester Model 12, Super X, 3in chamber heavy duck gun.

Walnut and blue may not be popular anymore but it keeps me going.

For all those that thought 3in is something new, this one was made in 1939.

Winnie came out with them in '36.

You don't want to drop one on your toe, for sure...

It was a LGS find. I had to redo the butt stock.

It hasn't been shot much but the funny thing is it had a broken firing pin.

Maybe that is why it hadn't been shot?

I keep a few around just in cases like this.

It even has the factory magazine plug.

Why did they make a duck gun so heavy? How are the ducks going to lift it now? :dunno:

Call me old-faishoned, but I'll take the blued steel and wood every time. That's back when they really new how to make a shotgun. Just can't beat a Winchester model 12, nuff said.

Very nice. It looked new until I saw you redid the stock. Nice work.

It had water damage on the stock, probably just poor storage.

Tried something new. Chemically stripped it and went over it with medium steel wool. Only put 1 application of tung oil, may add a second down the road.

No wood was removed, it is still proud to the metal.

80-90% of the blemishes were in the finish so most came off with the strip.

Cheapest nice gun I have bought recently.
