I have only hunted in the past with guns that have at minimum 22 inch barrels. I have a Howa .308 and 6.5C both with these same 22 inch sporter barrels.

I am intrigued by the Ruger Predator gun. They make a .308 with an 18 inch medium contour barrel that looks like it would be an awesome gun for hunting. Easy to carry and move around with.

What do you lose accuracy wise when you go down 4 inches in a .308? I know that I would loose some velocity but I don't ever shoot past 250 yards so not sure it would matter.
