I'm working on an ar10 build but can't find much in the way of piston upper components. Is piston not as popular with the .308? I'm planning on running it suppressed with an 18" or 20" barrel. Am I missing something in my thought process on wanting to run a piston system? It not make as much a difference on an AR10?

Why piston? (IOW, what are you hoping to gain from a piston in an AR10 platform?)
Have you already purchased the silencer for this rig?

I've had a .30 can for a while, I am just thinking about the blowback I get shooting my sbr .300 blackout and how dirty it gets. Is it not as big an issue with the .308?

I would have suggested a can that has much less blowback and does not warrant a piston: OSS
(you would still spend the $$, just a better solution)
