    Model 14 .35 rem

    Picked this up.
    Serial number says 1927.
Had minor finish issue and some light rust.
    Cleaned up decent.
Needs a bit of oil to even finish on buttstock.
Not trying to make like new, just uniform.

Cannot see rear sight for diddly. Even w my glasses.
    Peep sights run $150-225

Think I might try a Skinner peep at rear sight dovetail, still a bit more fwd than I'd like.

Idea was something slightly uncommon, for doe tags next year.
Either it or a new Python w reflex.

Old eyes are screwing up everything LOL
(main deer rig is a 760 also in .35 rem w a 4X Leupold.....IMHO Indiana deer hunting perfection).

An excellent cartridge, I love shooting my Model 8.

FWIW I did not get it cheap, but didn't overpay either.
Seen similar cheaper on Armslist, but by the time I burned the gas would have had the same amount (or more).
Post hunting season they are not uncommon on Armslist, $275-350. Quite a few in Michigan.

Edit: just checked and all dried up. Were plenty a few months back. Was shocked at how cheap (.35 rems).
Some NOT drilled and tapped for scopes. And IIRC none had peeps at those prices either.

And no peeps on big auction site now.

    This one was local

Have already been offered what I paid.
So if I change my mind I'll at worst break even.

I am not going to pay top dollar for a period correct peep sight.
Also don't like how they use a wood screw in the stock (in addition to the two factory at back of receiver).

This one has not been drilled and tapped for scope, although a Leupold Alaskan 2.5x would be cool (think they're around 400 bucks).
A Lyman Alaskan, is around 250-300.
    No thanks.

Will check the Skinner dovetail rear and try a higher front. See how that works.

Is interesting, Pedersen designed it, the mag tube slides back and forth during cycling.

    I've shot four deer w .35 rem.
    Like the cartridge just fine.
Not really an old gun type, but a Grice Wholesale 7600 synth carbine used is about a grand, w nothing on it per GB.
So when a 760 came up for half that, I thought what the heck. Older version, it had a mag issue (fixed).....I shot it w junk scope
and it put 3 into a .50 cal hole at 25 yards. Yeah, bought it.
Have a Leupold 4x on it, does around an inch at 75 yards. Could do better w more mag.
I don't think it really needs tested past that for accuracy. Just shoot and learn the drop and hold.
Figure 150 yards and in cartridge.

Idea w the Model 14 is 75 and in iron sighted.
That was the plan anyway LOL.

Will not add tang peep (no hole in wood, not gonna add one now).
    No swivels either.

A scope would be great, but kinda ruins why I got it.
I suppose a weaver base at rear sight dovetail and a reflex would work.
But then that's just too much clash of tech.

I'd have bought it if D&T and had no prob adding a scope, 2.5X Leupold.
Weaver would look more correct, but I don't trust em.

Since this one has no non factory holes, as long as I'm custodian, it will stay that way.

From what it sounds like, you can probably add me to the list of people who would give you your money back on it

Like you, the price has to be right for me to buy, so I've had my eyes open for a Model 14 in 35 Rem or 25 Rem to go with the 30 Rem that I already have (and like very much). I'm not really interested in the 32 Rem caliber (or 32 Win Spl for that matter). The 25 Rem pretty much duplicates the 25-35 Win but in rimless fashion and so that kinda interests me as a plinker/varmint killer, plus I have a set of dies and a little bit of brass on hand waiting to be put to use. The 35 Rem interests me because it is one of those "just right" calibers and I already load for it.
