    From American Riffleman.

Has a pic of all these beautiful rifles with 17" bayonets, glamours on about how they are original .303 brits and not nato, then discloses they are all being neutered! AAaaagh! Say it isn't so! They then go on to say they are still going to use them for riot control! What!? Scary clubs with a sticky end to them?

Maybe they plan to have them blast pork pellets on the crowd...

Sounds like they won't be able to blast anything. Bludgeon, poke with bayonet, intimidate by way of pretending to still be a gun... but they are not going to be able to be fired. I can't imagine being on security duty during a riot with a gun that isn't a gun. I get the "non-lethal" logic for some situations but why make your non-lethal tool look like a gun?

The article says, "converted... whatever that is".

My logic may be flawed, but to me, anything other than shooting .303 Brit would be "converted"...

Always found them intriguing with their history and all.
So sad they rendered them useless.
Very hard to find one in excellent condition and a decent price.
    Ahh Breaker Morant. Rule 303.

Yeah, I was combining several comments. At the end it says the ones offered through Bud's guns will be demilled but will require a FFL transfer. I took that to mean they are not shootable but still need transferred. I incorrectly assumed that applied to the "decommissioned and turned into riot guns" also. You are right, the ones staying in India might just be converted to some other type of shooty stick.

The history of India is pretty cool. I just watched a strange movie on netflix/Amazon (I can't remember). It was kind of cheesy but the history was unknown to me. They fought with the Brits in WW2 but also against the Brits for their independence at the same time.

Several years ago now, I had an Enfield find me.
I did some work for a widow who still had some of hubby's guns.
She had a list of what she had, and a price she wanted for each.

Among others, I bought an Lithgow Enfield in .303 British. It is a 1942 SMLE III*, and I'm not sure it was ever issued.
If it was, I doubt it left Australia.
When I bought it, it was all but new with a bright and shiny bore.

She said, per the list she had, she would take no less than $30 for the Enfield.
I just about fell on the floor.
I asked to see her list. My knees went weak.

This poor lady sold my brother a Norinco SKS. She had a price tag of $30 on it as well.
I picked up a Marlin model 90 O/U with a single trigger. Scarce version from what I'm told. She had a $50 price tag on this.

We each left that house with at least 2 firearms, but we couldn't do that to this girl.
Mind you I said this was years ago, but not that long.
I told her that her list was WAY off base.
She immediately thought I meant too high and got defensive.

I told her NO! These prices are entirely too low, and asked who priced them for her.
She said it was a "friend of the family, who knew firearms". This person priced them for her, and then "did her the favor" of buying most of the collection.
What my brother and I saw where the "unwanted" of the collection.
No-one in the family wanted them and the "friend" passed on these.

I asked if she would accept double her asking price, and she was obviously pleasantly surprised.
We went to this house to do a VERY small job. The total bill was like $140.
She paid us, and then asked if we would be interested in any firearms.
We left happy, we left her happy, but still sometimes I feel a little guilty.
