    First things first, it’s Leadeye’s fault. :D

I’m a black rifle guy, and pretty much always have been. That being said, I have been infected with the old Winchester bug.
I've talked about them so much in the CZ thread, that they are gonna kick me out.
I decided I should probably just start a new thread.

My name is KJQ bunch of numbers, and I’m an addict. I swore to my friends and family I wasn’t going to buy any new guns this year, and I didn’t buy any new ones. But I did pick up a couple old ones. A 1894 Winchester in .32WS, a model 1906 .22 pump, a 1892 saddle rifle carbine in 32-20 and finally, a 1873 rifle in 32-20.

The newest gun of the four is 72 years old. The other three are all over 106 years old, the oldest is 130. Who else is afflicted?

The 22 pump rifles are so cool. I really need to find a nice one. Have you needed to get any parts or springs yet? If so where could you get them?

They really are cool. I always wanted one, and picked up a model 61 last year. It’s a great gun, but the 24” barrel doesn’t give it that gallery gun feel. This year I got the 1906. With a 20” barrel, it feels like a toy. I have an array of steel in the backyard and this ne makes you feel like a kid at the county fair. It is a blast to shoot!

I haven’t had any issues with parts as of yet on the .22s, but you seem to be able to get about anything you need.

just how old is old? i think some parameters need to be set for the subjective criteria!

I've been picking away at a 20th century Winchester collection. It's been mostly inspired by the fact that I was stationed at a USMC trucking company about 2.5 miles from the old factory in New Haven as the crow flies, for 7 of my eight years in the Corps. Kinda sentimental...but EXPENSIVE and TIME CONSUMING! Most of these military guns have had so many different parts put on them since they were built that it will probably take my whole life to correct some of them.

    ...gotta have a hobby :D

Yes, I speak Winchester. I am a sucker for the '73 in 32-20. I just reincarnated one.

I started off with the shotguns but when the number I have got embarrassing I switched to their rifles.

As the disease goes, I am a carrier...

The 32-20 is a lot of fun shooting steel in the back yard. I’ve never a been a reloader, but at the rate I’m going, I might have to start.

I am not sure how I became infected with the Winchester bug.It seems I just woke up one morning and there they were? I have a 1942 Model 94 in 32WS, 1962 Model 94 in 30-30,9422XTR in 22, 9422MXTR in 22mag and I have seriously had my one on a post 64 Model 94 saddle ring carbine in 30-30. Not sure how I got in this condition. Lack of self control maybe? I to have it bad.:hooked:

I have always had a thing for pistol caliber carbines, so I’m using that as an excuse. My 94 is in 32WS, and it gets shot the least. It’s a little salty for plinking in the backyard. With the lead soft point bullets in the 32WS, I figured it would be safe on steel, at about 75 yards. I was wrong. It will dimple an AR500 target at that range.

I’ve got a model 77 .22 I think from around 1958. So not real old but it’s the best shooting .22 I’ve personally handled. It was my grandpas. I love that rifle. I bought a 10-22 just so I would t shoot it so much.

    .
I've collected them over the years and their Uberti copies. They just have so much rich American history to them it's hard to pass them up. I recommend learning to reload if you don't already as it reduces shooting costs and gives you some flexibility with older rifles with various bore diameters and conditions.

Besides, John Wayne used them in a lot of movies which is reason enough to own at least one.;)

And this is how it starts folks. Everybody needs at least one, he says. There’s no such thing as one.

They don't make rifles like that any more and they certainly don't make any actors like the Duke who was a great man and patriot.

Hondo was on today as I was walking through the living room. The 1892 was front and center in that one. Instead of watching the movie, I went out and shot the 1892. I don’t need much of an excuse.

Love me so old Winchester’s. Once I get home I’ll see if I can post a few of mine. This is the most recent a 67a I got for my youngest.

Love my 1918 30WCF in 94 and my 1929 Sporting Rifle both that shoot one Moa. Winchester died in 1964. Glad to see a new energy in these great guns. In a world filled with black video game guns, these old shooters are a hoot!!!
