Back in the day of slug guns only the Mossbergs did quite well on deer.

The Savage 212 and 220 make very good deer guns. If I was still in the game of shotguns for deer I would probably own both

I liked my bolt action Mossberg 410 for squirrels, and used to use my BIL's bolt action Mossberg 16 gauge for rabbits. Worked well for me.

With sub 2" groups at 100 yards w rifled 870s w drilled and tapped receivers.....why would anybody want a bolt rig for deer?

Maybe a Browning A Bolt....if wanting a nicer looking dedicated slug gun and trying to stretch shots close to 200.

But the Marlin and Mossberg bolt slug guns?
Ugly and clunky.
