Hello all, j have a friend that is wanting to do some trading and has a Bergara Woodsman in 308.

I wondered if anyone has experience bobbing the barrel to around 16-16.5 inches to attach a TBAC brake to it.

I know the barrel starts out at .750 and is around .650 at the muzzle, a 5/8-24 requires a .725 diameter.

Short of having the rifle in my hand and measuring it I was just curious if anyone else has real world experience with this idea. Thanks.

Lots of people have barrels cut & threaded for a muzzle device. I don't consider it a DIY project unless you're an experienced machinist but some have and made it work.

Definitely not planning on a DIY. I was asking about cutting and threading on this particular barrel profile as in if the barrel was suitable for it.

Sounds like a project for AllenM at Diamond Collision ... if it can be done, he can do it ... if it can't be done, he'll find some crazy creative way to get it done.
