I have found, in my extensive research, that POF has some quality issues that I did not know about.

My question to you - the masses :

Is the POF really a good choice in 16" battle form, or should I be looking for something else.??

PWS or Larue or LMT or LWRC are much more money.

I can get a Barrett Rec10 for $2500...but that EDGE is calling to me.

Talk me off the ledge, my people.

Bring your brains to this party and enlighten me.

    I await choo....

I don't know enough about the Edge.
All the manufactures you listed make outstanding products.
I would most likely take a hard look at LMT offerings.

If you have never watched any of Chris's videos, they are worth a watch.
He has a long history in the firearms industry and has written many user manuals and has had input on some weapon systems.
Worked for Colt for a few years too....

Anyway not really trying to plug him, but he does put out some very informative videos.
Here is one of many he has done for LMT products.

That is a Myth. A 16" barrel with throw an 168GR Hornandy TAP @ 2585 FPS. The 18" is @ 2650. Even an 13.5" is quite practical even out to 900yds. This article dispels all the myths about the 308 and barrel length:https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-truth-about-barrel-length-muzzle-velocity-and-accuracy/

The article is a bolt action rifle using Hornday TAP ammo.
He is asking about an AR-10 Platform, I will stick to my belief of at least an 18in. barrel out of a semi-auto .308 rifle.
Never bought into the Springfield SOCOM for that reason, although at one time I did own a Squad Scout with an 18in barrel, and with the muzzle break it was very LOUD!
To each their own, If it were me an 18in. would be the minimum out of a .308.

OP, if you are considering POF, you may want to look at the revolution.

I handled, and lusted after one, after the 2019 NRAAM. It is a unique offering in the AR sphere. Plenty of videos, so Google a away.

I have an LWRCI, and it is an amazing rifle. However as you've noted it is a pricey beast. At over $4,000 for the REPR Mark 2 unless I hit the lottery it is just not in the cards.

I have a short barrel FAL, 16in total barrel length. The barrel is actually 14.5in, 16in with brake. Very loud but accuracy is very good out to about 400 yards. I haven't really shot it past that. Yeah velocity is down a couple hundred fps but. I can get a little of that back with a little heavier charge over service rifle loads.
