Was literally 8 solid hours of acetone and paper towels.
But that 8hrs was over two days, three intervals.

Some staining of plastic, could shoot flat black and make it look like new.
Am sick of working on it.

MKII all weather. Dunno year made.
Older model, "boat paddle" stocks seem to be rather desirable these days.

    .308 win.

Recoil supposed to be stout w factory pad. Pachmayr made a Decelerator 01736, since stock obsolete, so is pad.
Sims had one as well, but dropped that part # 10010. Now they have 10011 and can call for adapter plate for free (so I read on the interwebs).
Adds a half inch to LOP.

I dont care for the look of the sims either.

Already had a couple folks asking me if the rifle was for sale (other forums).
Guess in Alaska and other wet/rainy/cold places this is one they want.

If it shoots I might do a trigger job and flat black the stock.

    Ruger rings............SUCK.
Tops are over centerline by design. They are hand contoured and the halving line can vary.
So tops can be specific to bottom, and in orientation.

Of course, Leupold made a nice stainless ring, halves to center.
    Discontinued. Need mediums.

Also, Ruger rings must be machined w some springiness to them, because they tend to mark a scope at outer top half edges.
A few passes w a file can really reduce the snap over and sharpness.

Most folks don't know that and just bolt em up and think everything is cool.
And for them maybe it is.

But this Trijicon got ring marks. Needlessly.
Kinda neat scope. Needs moved back (is in original position due to ring marks).
If I can clean those up a little, will move it back a smidge.

    More work.

    For a truck gun. LOL

FWIW this is the last gun I buy that needs any depainting or stock work.
    Done done done.

Figure though, now that its cleaned up, might be worth a bit more than I have in it.
    ;)

The M77 all weather was never a looker imho.
And maybe camo is better on such a pig.

But I dont like camo. May be tolerable on some stocks, but not the metal.

I changed my camo stock out. And will on my 1100 magnun w factory camo.

Rather go solid color. The splatter on HS sto ks is about as much color/ pattern i want anymore.

Not really a fan of stainless for color. Am for durability. Silver scopes make me puke.

Because of the value of the base rifle, it was worth the effort.

I'm not a fan of the rattle can finish and will never again buy one just because it was a good deal.

There is no easy way to clean off paint except for the way you did it.

It just isn't worth my time and effort.
