Don't own a 45-70, and not that you asked, but I do own a Marlin 1894 Cowboy in 45LC w/ 24" octagon barrel. Really enjoy shooting it.FWIW I have thought about getting a 45-70 though. Really like your photo.

I have the Remlin 1895, and a Handi Rifle, both in .45-70.
Love them both, but the Remlin is, contrary to some popular beliefs, a very nice rifle.

I've always liked the 45/70 as a caliber, but I'm an accuracy junkie and never found a combination I was completely happy with. I've had a marlin 1895 guide, 1895, and a H&R Buffalo Classic all in 45/70. I never got the accuracy out of the marlins and the buffalo classic really needed some kind of a recoil pad on it. I'm usually one viewing of Quigley Down Under from wanting to get another one. Lately, I've been interested in both the Henry case hardened 45/70 or trying to find a 1895 cowboy with the rear tang sight. Personally, I'd love to see Henry make their version of a buffalo classic on their new single shot platform.

    Could be anywhere
.45/70 the only government I trust.

1895 CB with Guide Gear furniture. I also have the Iron Horseshoe style furniture which is definitely not what you want on when shooting 460gr +P hard cast rounds.
