I have a Daisy 880 that I've had now for 30 years that I got one year for Christmas. It will not hold air when I pump it. Do any of you fine folks know of anybody that works on them in the Indy area? I have not taken it apart yet to see if it is anything obvious. I can send it to Daisy for repair, but I'm afraid they will send me back one of their current junk models. I held one of the new models at a store one day and was amazed how much plastic is in them now.

I had that very same air rifle back in the mid 80's, and yes, I agree, the new ones are just junk compared to 'originals.' My rifle had the same problem, after about 10 years, the gaskets in the compression chamber failed, and it would produce a hissing sound after being pumped two or three times, and then finally lose almost all the pressure in the chamber.

I would recommend seeing either a paintball gun specialist, or a local pnumatics company to have the gaskets replaced. Chances are there is nothing physically wrong with the air chamber, its just the rubber seals. These should be cheap and fairly easy to replace. Worst case scenerio, send it back to Daisy and have them replace the seals. I'm sure they see a slew of originals that need repair, and from the notes sent back with the rifles, I'm equally sure they understand our passion for these 'vintage' airguns.

I have the same exact gun I got about 20 years ago, same problem too. I'd like to know where you get yours fixed and how much it costs when you get yours worked out.

If you are brave and pull them apart, the rubber O rings they use are a standard size, Its just a metal tube with a piston that allows compressed air in (moves with each pump, most of the time has been this gasket for me) they are not to hard to fix. (I have never fixed a daisy before, just some crossmans that I have)

I think I'll try this. I have a rabbit that has been devistating my garden. I shot him with my leaking pellet gun, he just laughed and hopped away.

I wore a lot of those guns out when I was a kid. Both Crossman and Daisy amongst others. Needless to say I had a couple 880's.

There was one 880 I had for a few years. Boy did I shoot the heck out of that thing every day in the woods near our house. Many a cat, squirrel, rabbit, and other vermin fell to that thing. Even popped a skunk one time.

Fond memories of air gunning childhood. I begged like a homeless person for years for an air rifle for x-mas. Never did get one. I saved my paper route money and talked my dad into making the purchase. I attest the gazillions of ball bearings and pellets fired to my sniper like marksmanship.
