I've had a lust for a FAL for a few years. I walked away from a few that I regret but that's life. Anybody assembled one from parts and a kit? I sure wish .308 were cheaper and, honestly, I would get rid of the Bushmaster to finance a FAL.

I've been to half a dozen Knob Creek Machinegun Shoots and I just keep being drawn back to that DSA booth like a moth to a flame. Sadly, I don't have an extra $2k to spend on a DSA model I like...

I would like to be an FAL guys, and some day I may be when the financial situation and priorities allow it.

I'm still kicking myself for not snagging a CETME when you could get them for $300 a few years ago.

I have a Franken-FAL that was built from about three dozen rifles. There are no matching part numbers, but it wound up with an Imbel receiver and several other Imbel parts, inch pattern of all things. The rifle was finished as an STG-58 complete with the bipod that folds back into the front handguard. Amazingly it has been 100% reliable after I installed one of Tapco's one piece op-rod.

It is one of my rifles that I intend to keep forever.

mines an L1A1 from century. got it cheap, but it runs fine and shoots well. it's rhino's fault, actually, as he tipped me to some mags at a great price. had a case of mags and no rifle. hmmmmm.

there is a lot to be said about having a copy of the strong right arm of the free world.
