Pheenix,
Well, what you had was probably a version of the book William Morgan printed as a way to "get back" at the freemasons in the early 1800's. I forget the title.
Oddly enough, even though it was "verboten", it ended up being used by many lodges and individuals as a sort of instructional manual, because it was relatively close to the ritual.
There is, however, only one way for you to find out what the actual ritual, signs and passes are, (and only in context do they make sense). Seek out a friend who is a brother, and ask him for a petition.
I can tell you 3 things.
1 The rituals will seem a little strange to you if you're not a history buff.
2 Every man in the room has gone through them. They're not there to make fun of you or anything like that. They're there because they're excited to see a new brother come in.
3 There is no hazing.
If you're interested enough to join, you'll find yourself among friends almost everywhere you go, and have 6 million new brothers.
