I paid $550 for the Arai ten years ago and $400 for the Variant four years ago. Both great helmets, I just keep buying newer ones.
Both have plenty of road miles logged and have never hit the ground or been dropped. They have been stored inside when not in use and off season. They have only been worn by me.
If you look closely the Arai has a couple scratches from bumping into things. The Icon has a pretty scratch free finish, no signs of any scratches. Both have removable interior padding for cleaning. Both come with the factory branded helmet drawstring bag.
The Icon comes with three shields and a cold weather breath box.
