I need a ruling on whether or not you can take off your belt with the gun in the holster while not in the safe area.

Example of the situation, having to take off the exterior belt of a 2 belt system to swap out your shell caddies or mag holders.

I don't know about MG rule but USPSA rules say no. Rule 5.2.1 it may not apply in MG so take my answer with a grain of salt.

It looks like I was wrong in guessing USPSA rules might apply. It looks like this rule from the USPSA MG rule book would apply assuming INMG is not going with some form of wildcat rules.
    MG 5.2.5.3:
Due to the varied equipment requirements in a multi-gun match, belts, hol-
sters, belt-mounted magazine holders and speed-loading devices and any
other equipment worn or carried by the shooter may be changed, reposi-
tioned or reconfigured between stages, provided that such reconfiguration is
compliant with MG-5.1.7, and all equipment is in a rules-compliant config-
uration prior to the start of the shooter’s attempt on the Course of Fire.

I don't think INMG follows USPSA MG rules though...

Sorry, I was no help. That MG game looks fun, I want to try it sometime, but for now I'm gonna try and stay focused on USPSA. My little brain has enough trouble remembering what my plan is on a stage with just one gun let alone two extras. Good luck finding an answer to your question.

There is usually a safe area close enough to make it easy to just go there. OR most RO's will allow you to bag your pistol in a berm at stage. Its what I usually do. I dont carry my pistol untill I need it for a stage and will try to bag it at the end of the stage if possible. I personally interpret the rules to say no, you can not or should not use a holster to game the process. I know those who do and all to often see pistols handled out of the trunk of cars and elsewhere match day. I honestly feel safer seeing a rifle or shotgun being handled out of the safe area because there is a chamber flag in use. With a pistol its a guessing game if its loaded. Never have seen an AD at a match in that situation but there is always a first time.
