Seems like the only one even remotely close to me in Greenwood is in Atlanta, IN. But that is still over an hour drive. Anything closer?
Kinda what I was thinking. I'm lucky in that the Fort has both multigun & USPSA in town, but I also drive 2hrs (one way) to all the other multigun events. From the majority of postings in the Shooting Sports forum, I think that's pretty typical. Seems like everybody's got a home club, but travels as well. Are you kidding? An hour drive and that's too far???

Nope. Atlanta and Lafayette are the closest to Indy. There may be one starting up to the west of Indy, but it's still going to be a about an hour.

I live in Indy, and Martinsville is an hour drive for me. It's close for you, but that doesn't make it close for "Indy".I am a member at Martinville Sportman Conservation Club, and I am surprised no one has ever organized something there. They have the ability to do different stages on different bays/ranges and even have the 300 yard range.
Yeah, most of them run for 8-10 hours. For the out of town matches, I usually leave at 6ish am and get home around 8ish pm. No doubt it's a big commitment. I think the bigger issue for your area may be just getting around Indy. For you, getting to Atlanta is a 40 mile trip that takes an hour. For me, its a 90 mile trip that takes an hour and a half. There's your difference, and it only gets worse when you talk about getting to Wildcat or Hillside.Correct me if I'm wrong, but these competitions seem like they would be an all day affair. Next year I will have two boys under two, so I am sure my opportunities to get away for an entire day will be limited. Driving an hour isn't out of the question, but I still find it odd that the closest 3 gun competition for Indy residents is an hour away. That's all I'm saying.

Ya beat me to it, lol.I live in Indy, and Martinsville is an hour drive for me. It's close for you, but that doesn't make it close for "Indy".
There is a lot that goes into organizing a proper 3 gun match. From the time it takes to design and build the stages, to the money involved in all of the targets needed, it's a huge affair.
Just to add to this, there may be an announcement soon about a range that will begin hosting 3 gun matches south of Indy next season...
