My kids are really enjoying shooting with me, but they have both commented on the fact they've never seen other kids shooting. I've been looking for a local club to join, and just haven't found a home yet, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a place that has a youth presence. I am hoping to find someplace that might even offer a youth league for shooting (one they could participate in when they are with me at least) in 22LR. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

My girls 10 & 13 shoot Steel Challenge and USPSA at ACC but not many kids there or anywhere we've been around here. Only place we've seen a lot of kids is bigger matches down South, GA, AL, FL, AR, etc.. We travel a lot to shoot so makes it hard to go every month to ACC. This month will be the first Steel match since April or May I think. Shame there aren't many kids but they still have a blast competing against the adults. they are great with the kids there and everywhere else we've been to in IN, MI and KY. We will be there the 20th, if you are gonna be there let me know and we will squad the kids together. Eric Bragg

The steel match at Riley this weekend will be kid friendly,
its always a good thing to familiarize yourself and the kids with the range commands.
utube has a lot of steel challenge videos.

Check out your local Purdue Extension office, many counties have a 4H Shooting Sports program and it is a good start for any youngster. Of course I am prejudice, I served as a 4H Shooting Sports leader in 4 different counties over 20 years!

Monday night steel at HHRP usually has some kids. It's a lot of fun. There's a thread in the shooting sports forum for it.

My son is 15 and he shoots Steel and USPSA. He also shoots Scholastic Shooting Sports stuff also.

We most times shoot at South Central and Hoosier Hills. We have been to Fort Wayne and ACC for USPSA.

    Recommendations for youth shooting?

    Aim low. They're short.

And lead them a bit more than you'd expect. They're quick.

    (Purple implied.) ;)
