Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, so mods feel free to move to a more appropriate place. We have been running "biathlon" type events down here in Kentucky over the past year. We did 3 in 2017; March, September and November, all at Rockcastle Shooting Center near Park City.

We are planning more for 2018, one of which will be at Rockcastle Shooting Center in March. Registration went live yesterday and tickets for the 5K sold out in about 11 minutes, and they are compiling a waiting list. I believe there are still some 10K spots open. https://www.facebook.com/events/1694526563922793/

Another event will be the Heartbreak 5/10K at Bluegrass Sportsmans League in Wilmore, just south of Lexington. Registration goes hot later today. https://www.facebook.com/events/1288981797874883/

Here are a few links to videos of past events.

I cannot recommend these matches enough. There's nothing else like them in this part of the country.
Did some volunteer work on the 10k course yesterday at Rockcastle. It's going to be an awesome match.

There are still 10k slots open, so it's not too late to get signed up.

These are a great time! I have done the 10k in Oklahoma several times, and will be doing a 5k in Rock castle this March. I would recommend them to anyone.

That's an understatement (depending on how much fun fits in a boat, guess). I'm exhausted just watching it, but it looks like a great time.

Plus, Rockcastle is a great venue. The old lodge/hotel is on site, with both a restaurant and bar. If that wasn’t awesome enough, the start and finish lines are literally at the hotel lobby.

Somebody was just asking me if there will be other events in Kentucky in 2018. Well, this was just announced today:

The Run for Your Life Zombie 10K Run N Gun
    Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 8 AM - 6 PM CDT
    Rockcastle Shooting Center
    585 Park Mammoth Rd
    Park City, Kentucky 42160

So if February or March 2018 was not enough time for you to prepare, now you have an attainable goal to shoot for; you have 11 months to train. Get going!
Sorry for those not on Facebook, but there are no websites for these events. Unfortunately, Facebook is where it's at. Once registration opens, it will be listed on Practiscore.

This young lady ran the Nov. 2017 event at Rockcastle, shooting an FAL. And she ran it twice on the same day, just because it was so much fun.

What's the equipment list/requirements look like? Only saw the racer or combat division and a mention or tactical optics.

This looks awesome and may give me a reason to put down the pizza. Momentarily of course.

Pretty much any centerfire rifle and pistol, eyes, ears, enough ammo to complete the COF, flashlight (pistol stage in a cave) and some type of stopwatch. You can use pretty much any equipment to carry everything, but must include a secure holster.
The divisions are broken out into “race” and “combat” class. Race class is “run what ya brung”. Combat class requires that you finish the race with at least 25% of your body weight in equipment.

I carry all my rifle/pistol mags in a chest rig and pistol in a belt mounted holster. I carry a 14.5” AR with a 3x acog, then a G17 with a TLR1 light. Usually carry around 100 rounds of each rifle and pistol ammo.
A few guys run classic battle rifles, like M1s, FALs, milsurp bolt guns, plus use period gear. You can have fun and make the match what you want it to be.

You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to do this! Not many people will be able to run 100% of the entire distance(s). I'm a grandpa and I have done three of these events in 2017, and I know I will be hiking parts and jogging parts. Just a word of encouragement for those who don't think they are in good enough shape!

    ^^^ Truth ^^^
I've been competing in RnG's for several years and have yet to run an entire course. Mostly just jog on the flat ground and walk everywhere else. Works out well for me.

Revere's Riders, a 501c3 non-profit (https://www.reveresriders.org/) is partnering with the Feb 3, 2018 Heartbreak Run & Gun in two ways. First, Revere's Riders will be providing a brick (500 rounds) of free .22 LR ammo for all youth (under 18) who register for and run in either the 5K or 10K. They must shoot a 22 rimfire and use the provided ammo. If they complete the race, they get to keep any remaining ammo they did not shoot during the race. Second, Revere's Riders will be awarding the coveted XI Virginia Regiment Morgan's Rifle Corps patch and certificate to all shooters who pass "Morgan's Test", which is at Stage 1 and involves a using a centerfire rifle to make a single, cold bore, unsupported shot on a 6" steel target at 250 yards.
