At the Wednesday night shoot, we tried some different things and discussed possible improvements to our format. We ran experimental format and it ran extremely well with positive feedback from all. We had 13 entries on 4 positions (had 4 shooters on some squads) and still got done in an hour and 45 minutes from start to final cease fire.

As a result, our upcoming matches will move away from knockdown targets and instead shoot swingers. We will change from 10 shots on target to 20 shots before rotating, and allow 11 minutes for those 20 shots. We also will have a 5 round max on magazines, although you can have multiple mags. We'll paint as needed, but last night we went halfway thru the match before needing paint.

    See you Saturday!!

Results are up on the Riley Conservation Club site. Riley Conservation Club | Indiana Shooting Range | Terre Haute Indiana Long Range Rifle

If the link only goes to the home page, kindly click on the box(es) "Match Results" then "22 Long Range Rifle" then the match date "June 16, 2018"

Match winners were Litlratt & sht4brnz who tied for 1st in Master Class with 37x40, with Gary edging the win on a 10-9 tiebreaker.
Standard class also had a tie for 1st place, Rich Hawkins and lady shooter Carley Hoopengarner both with 38x40. Hawkins (yep, that's me) won, also on a10-9 tiebreaker :bacondance: thus proving the blind squirrel/finding acorn theory.

On a more serious note, well-deserved kudos to Carley. She is not a competitive shooter, and has no background in the shooting sports. But this is precisely the result that I hoped to achieve when creating this match, namely, that someone who enjoys plinking and then applies position, sight picture, and trigger control can shoot very well and gain satisfaction from their accomplishment. She ran her first 29 targets before finally missing. Carley doesn't run a fancy gun, in fact, we both shot stock CZ 452's (over half the field used CZ), optics under $300 (she shot a Hawke and used holdover on her reticle, I used a Weaver T-15 and ran the knobs) factory untouched trigger, and budget friendly ammo (Geco Semi-Auto, Wolf Match Target). This is Carley's 2nd score of 30+ and now qualifies her to shoot Master Course. Again, a tip of the hat to her

Our next match will be Sat June 30. This will be a special 60 round match with 20 targets each at 110, 165, & 200 yards. Shotgun start, but you will shoot all the target at that yardage before changing distance which will allow shooters to "dial in" a bit better. I'm expecting some good scores. Everyone will be in one class, no Master class, and Lewis style payback as usual. Hope to see you there.
