JRGC will be opening our trap fields for six Sundays, September 23 through October 28, at 2:00pm for youth shooters to participate, learn, and shoot the sport of trap. Youth shooters may attend as many or all of these sessions. We advise all new shooters to attend the first and second week to learn the basics. Activities will be supervised by NRA Certified Instructors and Coaches. We will be teaching shotgun safety, the rules and scoring for trap, and trap shooting fundamentals. Parents are welcome to attend, as well.
Each youth shooter may shoot 2 rounds (50 targets total) of trap each week. JRGC requires a liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian to be on file for each youth. Youth may bring their own shotguns, or borrow from several of our youth shotguns as needed. Special youth pricing on 12 or 20 gauge shotgun shells is available, or shooters may bring their own ammunition.
Thanks to the support of the Friends of The NRA and Jasper Rifle and Gun Club, the cost of a round of 25 trap targets will be $2.00, and a box of shotgun shells will be $3.00. These prices are only available during these events.
Please come out this fall to see what youth trap shooting is all about. With enough youth interest, JRGC will sponsor a competitive youth trap shooting team in the spring. There are many local, state, and national competition opportunities and benefits for a local youth trap team.
