I have been known to pop tree rats from inside my house. Had a few times where the wife and kids complained about the shell casings in their shoes.

Just dispatched the first (and hopefully only) water rat in the pond. I was in the den. Wife walked in and stepped on a casing. She just asked what I killed.

I have practiced reloads in the house with my pistol and did the dance to avoid my toes. Decided to shoe up because of the distraction.

Practice in front of a chair or couch. Then you won't have to bend so far to pick them up.

    Efficiency means more practice.

been there, done the toe-smash dance with accompanying expletives.
It's not a lesson we pass on because, well, it's funnier if you learn the hard way.

    basket on couch is good.
pillow on floor to tuck feet under is good.
pretend mag is good (but be careful you don't get lazy on the mag release!)

Ever kick a mag while moving? :)

several times.... almost shot one once as it took a long arc right along my line of sight to a target!

So much good stuff here ^^^^^^^. Agreed to the mag release and not getting lazy. I used to use a tote bin full of 12ga hulls with a towel over the top, it made a very satisfying sound and worked great.
