I hope I don't start another endless debate. But find it interesting why they are opening a new contract for 40 caliber when Glock made a new 9mm pistol just for them. And their choice of ammo is just as intriguing.

Sure sounds like this is not the primary ammo contract for the FBI. It tends to make me think it is for off duty and/or special purpose ammo.

Please spread this news around. Maybe the demand for .40 will increase and people will stop trading them in at the local shop.

The contract is a Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement, meaning Hornady will deliver an indefinite quantity of its Critical Duty ammo during a fixed period. The specific dollar amount isn’t listed in the press release.

Hhhmmm, we want ammo. How much and how often? Dunno, we'll send you an e-mail when we figure that out.

New Internet rumor (I just made it up and this is the Internet, so there ya go!) The contracting specialist who went to Georgetown and doesn't know 9mm from .30-06 did a copy/paste/save-as on a document that had .40 S&W in the description.

You mean they have something other to sell than used G22's w/ night sights? I'm certain we are thinking of the same shop....

Probably for the transition period. FBI will likely take awhile to completely transition, considering they have agents spread globally.

Off the top of my head a G22, G23, couple S&W and we just took in a P320. Owner has basically said he can't offer much for used .40 because they just sit.

They'll move if priced right. I saw a nice nickel slide G23 for sale this weekend for $360. I'd have bought it on the spot except a buddy that was there with me beat me to it. Demand is down for the .40s right now and should be reflected in both trade in and selling prices. If you price a used G23 the same as a G19, it will most likely just sit there.

Based on your post and what your buddy paid, they are priced right. This is a very good time to buy handguns. Unfortunately I see more Highpoints, KelTec, Sccy leave the shop then quality used Glocks and Sigs.

I've been buying up some .40's as of late, not too many, but a few. Two Nice G23's, one a Gen 4 the other a Gen 3. And a very nice HK VP 40LE.
    All have been priced right.
