    Flying out of Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow in the late 1980s. Passport photo was a clean shaven, new haircut, no glasses lad. I had grown a then very bushy beard, hadn't had a haircut in 3 months and wore glasses. They took their time.

    Apparently immigration cops around the world are picky about you looking like your passport photo.

    Many years ago a Caucasian member of my military unit signed out his passport without either he or the NCO issuing the passport actually looking at it, climbed on a C-141, and flew to Saudi Arabia. When he got there the Saudi immigration guy opened the passport and saw a picture of an African-American (with a different name to boot. :) ). Airman Did-not-check-mystuff was put right back on board the plane he had just gotten off of and returned to The Big BX. Was not a happy day in the Mobility section back home when that came to light. I don't recall but that probably meant that someone who was scheduled to go home didn't because his seat was occupied by Airman Did-not-check-mystuff.
