Well, I went and ordered a 24" SS .308 barrel from Match Grade Machine to turn my muzzle loader into a center fire deer gun. It was a little pricey, but from what I have read and heard MGM makes one of the best. Anyone have any experience with MGM barrels? What bullet weight should I try first? I will look for a factory load that it likes so in a pinch I can go that route.

I ordered a 1 in 12 since I might use it with lighter 110 gr. V- MAX for coyotes as well as heavier SSTs for deer.

Ive had quite a few MGM barrels. I can tell you, if I was looking for another encore barrel, I would not shop around, I would go straight to MGM, and buy.

thats exactly what I did...after buying a vortex 2.5-10 last year (from A&AOptics...:):). thats been sitting in the box waiting for this barrel! I can't wait to get it together and sighted in.

Well.. barrel came in and is perfect. Balance is great with the Vortex 2.5-10 mounted up. If I wasn't stuck in Louisiana for work, I would be at the range trying to pick a load it likes and get it dialed in. when I'm ready for another barrel for the Encore, MGM will be getting the call for sure.
