    what time was this? I was on 36 just getting off 465 around 7:45 when something flashed and the stop light went instant red. Maybe a transformer or something blew.

    Didn't hear anything like that up this way. We were outside about then.

    Coyotes went nuts at about 3am, though. Noisy buggers.

    With the railway in Avon, loud noises are pretty common.

    About 2115 (or 9:15pm). It was loud enough to have an impromptu get together on the sidewalk with several neighbors. Possible meteor (that's going on now), a chunk of spacecraft? Around the same time a red glowing object was spotted by someone on 36. The sound matched a frost quake, but the conditions aren't right for that.

    Edit: the Japanese Hitomi satellite has been shedding parts. The largest piece it lost was 10 meters (about 34 feet.) The link is from last year but those things take a while to come back to Earth.
