I had a similar issue with Carnival Cruise line last year. Their site said no knives with a blade length over 4 inches so I double checked before taking my Spyderco Endura 4. Initial security took the knife from my bag and refused to talk to me when I told them that the blade was within their guidelines. I demanded to speak with their supervisor who quickly came over, looked at the knife and asked me why I needed it. I told them that wasn't the point and that it was within their advertised rules. She measured it and reluctantly gave it back telling me to keep it in my room. I am not sure what good that would do for her concerns, but whatever floats her boat :):

Security looked at my knife pretty suspiciously back in January. But I had made sure it was in their rules, and after measuring it, they gave it back.

I went on a cruise one time. They allowed us to keep ALL our sharp pointy things as well as our bang bang sticks. Hell, I even got PAID to go!!!
Even made some great scenic stops...Lebanon, Italy, Turkey etc.
The service by the bellhops sucked though.:patriot:

I've been thinking about cruises. I hope they'd be better than my last one 26 years ago. Bad service. Bad food. Place smelled. They even went cheap on the oxygen.
