Several years ago we banned talk about religion as things were getting to heated. We have decided to remove the ban and open the topic back up for discussion. We expect the forum rules to be followed. As always:

    -Keep these discussions "Civil".

-No Bashing/name calling/threats etc. This is a no brainer and is covered by existing Forum rules.

-Anyone crossing the line will receive an appropriate response from the Mod staff at our discretion.

This is a test to see if we can act in an adult manner and have civil discussions on this topic.

    Thanks INGO! :ingo:

This is going to be interesting......

Side question, should those discussions be in the Political Threads??? I mean, we don't want them in the break room.

    Dis gonna be good......

    Onward Christian soldiers!!

Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble.
God is a metaphor for that which transcends all levels of intellectual thought. It's as simple as that. “Half the people in the world think that the metaphors of their religious traditions, for example, are facts. And the other half contends that they are not facts at all. As a result we have people who consider themselves believers because they accept metaphors as facts, and we have others who classify themselves as atheists because they think religious metaphors are lies.”

    Joseph Campbell.

And now I will go and hide under my bed.

    Just an FYI folks.
    This is a slippery slope.
Lets keep some traction on this please.
    As stated........"Civil" is the key.
There is so much that can be done with the English language that reverting to bashing/name calling is just childish.

This is an experiment. The outcome is up to you all.

Feels like this has been a long time coming. Noticed mods were being lenient lately about these threads.

Religion-based issues are such a large influence of current events, I'm glad to see INGO open it up a bit so there are fewer eggshells to step around. I've noticed most people here have been discussing religious-based events in a fair manner without stepping outside of obvious lines of civility.

I think there are a few INGOers who just can't help themselves.
