I searched for it but can't find any posts so if it lives here somewhere, please direct me.

I get emails frequently about a book for sale called: "sold out: 37 critiacl food items to hoard".

Anyone know if this list is available?

I Binged it and all the listings take you to buy the book.

I'd rather just have the list, not the entire book.

So you'd like to have someone's work that they compiled into a book and had published for nothing? Try the library.

After reading One second after I think I need to stock up on T.P. and feminine hygiene products. I just can't figure out how to store those bulky packages and keep the mice out. Sorry not really what you asked for. I have not seen the "list"

TP and Female products can easily be stored in plastic totes.

The ones for under your bed hold rols of TP and such nicely.

If you have mice in your storage area you have bigger problems then not being stocked up.

Make your own list. Stop and ask yourself "What can I not live without?" it should be pretty simple.

No matter what preps you have, food, water, etc. Fuel and the replacement of grid power are a major issue for most.

You can grow food and dig for water but what about fuel?

How about posting some of the things you stock that may not be the normal beans, rice, sugar etc.

I will throw a few up.

Spices and dry soup mixes to make the 300 lbs of rice more palatable.
    Insecticides.
Pool Shock for making bleach, and treating water.
    IV's and start kits.
    Lots of Guaifenesin and Lomotil.

Which brings up another point about your food preps. Rice, beans, etc.... even tho packed (new) in boxes or plastic bags from the store, can be compromised by insects, not to mention mice.

This is where tight locking containers (like tupperware) and the vacuum bag sealing thingie... become priceless. Double bag/pack, everything!

What you need iS what you consume now! It's pretty simple, actually. Like right now I have an infant, I've never seen formula on a list anywhere. I know I need it, but if I go off whoever the latest guy to claim to be a "survival" expert, I'd have none. You'll know and figure out more by assessing your own situation and planning from there, then look to others for additional input.

Exactly. Do the legwork yourself. Figure the calories and nutritional needs of you and or your family members and then come up with a basic menu plan that fills those needs. For example. While 37 food items would be nice, I can only think of about a half dozen I need to live forever on. I am hard pressed to come up with ten. Add a big bottle of multi vitamins and you are set.

    1. White rice
    2. Mixed beans
    3. Canned meat
    4. Canned fruit
    5. Canned tomatos
    6. Cooking oil

    I'll go on.

    7. Honey
    8. Soup mix
    9. Dried milk
    10. I dunno, skittles or something.

I'm not saying its a great way to eat, but its better than millions of people eat in 3rd world countries and better than our pioneer ancestors ate some years. It can be done.

ok, i'm not trying to be smart butt, but could you explain why you would stock up on pool shock to make bleach and not just stock up on bleach? is it because bleach goes bad faster?

    thanks

Not sure what the big deal is....you can eat mice and insects. It's the cool thing about being at the top of the food chain.
