Last night on the Denny Smith Show (93.1), the guest was Arthur Bradley, Ph.D. He was talking about his new book, Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness for the Family. It was a good show and good reminder to keep preparing.

Some things discussed (and topics of the book) were:

• Types of disasters
• How to start preparing and prioritize
• Prepare without being obsessive
• Store at least 30 days worth of food and store what you currently eat, which will decrease stress in the event you actually need it
• Water purification and storage
• Illumination
• Electrical backup
• Defense against threats from other people/Zombies
• Communications
• Financial best practices, cash on hand
• Importance of rest for decision making
• Medicine and first aid
• Transportation - dependable, fuel economy
