I am trying to remember which fiction book i was reading about a SHTF and they used a portable 12 volt gas pump to get gasoline out of in ground tanks.
I know it is a book i did not buy and I can not think of the name of the book or author.

Could it be Devon C Ford's "After it Happened" series of books? It was the main way they acquired fuel. Interesting read in that the first several books take place in the UK and the last few in Europe with the cultural differences between the US versus the UK and Europe.

I remember reading it in a news story, seriously. They had a van with a hole in the floor they would park over the fill port, drop the tube down and suck up the gas in a drum.

I don’t think it was 299 days I want to say it was a James Wesley Rawels but can’t remember which book. But that may not be right either. I want to say it was an emp story. Thanks for trying. I am having a hard time finding the books and trying to reread them
