From the Randall Adventure Training Youtube channel. I've never seen anything like this. It's a little complicated (at least at first viewing), but it's slick and seems like a reasonable way to manage a fracture femur in the field.

I see one major flaw with this splint. The splint applies little traction. It takes a great amount of pressure to break a femur and it rarely breaks perfectly clean. The broken bone edges grind together creating immense pain. I learned to add 1/2" - 1" of length to the injured leg to give the broken femur space from touching edges. In the case of a compound fracture the bone edges could also sever the descending femoral artery and that could turn deadly real quick.

    Thanks, Dinny
