On Sunday, A&A Optics will refund the entire registration cost to you. Camping is permitted, lodging is close by, and Boy Scouts will have hot dogs and chips for sale. Need a loaner rifle? Sounds very similar to the one Appleseed event I attended, just under another moniker?
A&A Optics has sponsored shoots for Appleseed and RR where they gave away thousands of dollars in Optics each time. This time, they are giving away thousands of dollars in cash to get people there to learn how to effectively use their rifles, learn about how we all became Americans and what each of us can do to make America better. We didn’t want “I don’t have the money to attend” to be the reason people don’t train.

In short, yes. Same skills, same stories, and in Indiana, same instructors. Take either, and you will get awesome training.

There was a difference of opinion several years ago between some Indiana Appleseed instructors and HQ and they now instruct under Revere's Riders. Same goals, and at least from the RR side, not seen as competition. Just get trained is their view.

I'm thinking about it. Gotta be warmer (and hopefully dryer) than the last one I attended down in Bedford. :):

Probably will just be me. Neither kid is ready for it (maturity, attention span, etc), and the wife has no interest in rifle.

There was a difference of opinion several years ago between some Indiana Appleseed instructors and HQ and they now instruct under Revere's Riders. Same goals, and at least from the RR side, not seen as competition. Just get trained is their view.

It is true that Revere's Riders grew from a split with Appleseed and that our RIFLE program is largely similar to that of Appleseed. However, the similarities end there.

Revere's Riders is different from Appleseed in the following ways:

    • Revere's Riders offers training in pistol, defensive pistol, defensive rifle/carbine; Appleseed offers only rifle training
    • Revere's Riders has designed and implemented several unique firearms training offerings to include:
      • Whittemore Weekend (combination pistol and rifle training in a single weekend)
      • Battle Road Biathlon (summer biathlon style event)
      • Qualification Grinder (event where we just shoot the Revere's Riders rifle qualification; these weren't very successful so we haven't scheduled any in 2019; if folks want us to bring them back, let us know)
      • and more unique events are on the way!
    • Revere's Riders is run by officers who are elected by the membership; Appleseed is run by "Fred"
    • Revere's Riders is VERY transparent in our operation; we post our overall financials each year to our website for everyone to inspect (https://www.reveresriders.org/about-us/governance/financial-information/)

None of the above is to knock Appleseed; they run a good rifle marksmanship training event that is well worth attending.

Revere's Riders offers much more than Appleseed, is run by officers elected by our membership, has partnered with qualified training professionals to run upper level courses [Pistol 145 (Intro to Defensive Pistol) is run in partnership with John Viray of Adaptive Consulting & Training] and is committed to expanding our marksmanship and shooting sports activities in whatever ways necessary to more fully engage the overall public.

We've got several new events that are in the planning stages and not yet on our 2019 calendar. Hop on over to the Revere's Riders website and sign up for our email newsletter (sign-up form is in the footer of the Revere's Riders website) to get notified about these events as soon as we make them public. Alternatively, follow the Revere's Riders sub-forum here on INGO.

Plus some different offerings at Camp Atterbury including the pop up pistol and rifle. Like Gopher said, there’s also more programs being developed. Stay tuned.

Still 19 tickets available for this event. You will pay $80 up front to register for the event and then Alan of A&A Optics will reimburse your $80 once you attend the event (i.e., if you don't attend, you are out your $80).

If you've been on the fence about taking a Revere's Riders course, here is your opportunity to "try us out" at no cost! Alan is also a FANTASTIC host for our events and will have his Boy Scout troop there to sell lunches as well. We will even loan you a rifle if you don't already have one (we have a limited supply of loaner rifles, so they are "first come, first served").

Can you elaborate on the camping facilities? Would we be able to arrive on Friday? Leave Monday?
You can arrive Friday anytime after 6.00pm, and your welcome to leave Monday. Camping facilities will consist of a fire pit, porta potty, and a mowed yard. Its nothing fancy, but will get you by.
