    Defensive Pistol 1

    This course is designed for the gun owner who plans to carry a gun regularly, or maintains a gun at home for defensive purposes. This class will build upon skills you already have and introduce you to new skills. This course will involve a three hour block of range time that will teach, and build marksmanship and gun handling skills that are absolutely necessary for serious use of a handgun. The skills taught in this class include: safety and gun handling, getting off the line of force, draw stroke, magazine changes, malfunction reduction, Strong Hand Only and Weak Hand Only shooting, calling shots, snapping eyes, grip and stance.
    The one hour classroom segment will include the following topics: where to aim on the threat, storage of the gun and ammo, other essential gear, and gear selection will also be covered in the course. Student will also receive a dry fire manual that will show them how to practice. This four hour class will be robust and will involve a significant amount of shooting.

    Gun (9mm or larger)
    3 magazines (at least)
    Mag pouches
    Holster (covers trigger guard and allows one handed re-holstering)
    Ear and eye protection
    Hat with a bill
    Minimum 250 rounds of ammo
    Belt

    Defensive Pistol 2

    This class builds on the knowledge and skills necessary for every day carry and home defense with a handgun.
    This is a four hour class that involves a one hour classroom session and a three hour range session. The classroom session will include such topics as where to aim on the threat, OODA Loop, training practices that lead to successful shooting, and mindset.
    The range session will review moving off the line of force, reloads and threat scans. New material on the range will include low light techniques and practice, multiple threat engagement, and the use of cover and concealment. Defensive Pistol 1 must be completed prior to taking this course. Defensive Pistol 1 with Bright Firearms Training is required.

    How many people do you usually have in a class? How much range time vs in class? What's the instructor per student ratio?

    Class size varies. We have usually 6-10. I teach the class alone typically but have an assistant instructor if we are around 10.
